Hypermobility

Around 1 in 30 of us are living with hypermobility (www.nhs.uk). This syndrome has historically been understood as abnormal range of joint movement but it is now widely accepted that this is one of many symptoms.

Other symptoms include pain, fatigue, muscle/joint stiffness, muscle/joint strains and dislocations, poor balance, poor co-ordination, poor skin healing and bladder/bowel problems. Hypermobility in children may additionally cause delayed milestones, difficulty writing and difficulty sitting at school.

At Bourne Physio & Pilates I can help by teaching the client how to live successfully with the syndrome, offering advice and devising a highly specialised rehabilitation programme. I am also well placed to liaise with teaching staff as needed.
